Glass Act
by Capt. Ken Kreisler

While isinglass and plastic flying bridge enclosures provide comfort from bad weather and help keep you dry when pounding through heavy swells, weathering, aging, and scratching can severely limit visibility.

The BridgeMaster was developed to solve these problems. It is a distortion-free safety-glass window that installs into your existing enclosure to end visibility problems. The company says BridgeMaster works even in a downpour, when equipped with the optional wiper. A washer is also an option.

The BridgeMaster installs directly into your clear plastic or isinglass. Measuring 2'4" x 1'6", it's enclosed within a high-quality black- or silver-anodized aluminum frame. Each unit comes with all necessary stainless steel hardware and full installation instructions.

BridgeMaster weighs only seven pounds and installs in less than an hour with no special tools. The safety glass is scratch-resistant and non yellowing and is recommended for use with enclosures of 30-gauge or heavier plastic.

I Can See Clearly Now ...

Plastic bridge enclosures are great for keeping the elements off you and your electronics; however, they really don't offer very good visibility in a thunderstorm, regardless of the special products you may use to keep them clear of sheeting water. On many occasions you have to pull the enclosure down in heavy weather just to see where you're going - drenching the cockpit and defeating the purpose of the enclosure in the first place. The BridgeMaster from Raymond E. Schmitt allows you to keep your removable bridge enclosure and lets it do what it was designed to do - provide both visibility and shelter in rough weather.

The BridgeMaster is a safety glass device that measures 28 x 18 inches and will fit in almost every bridge enclosure made. The unit can be installed with a windshield wiper that gives total visibility no matter how rain streaked the surrounding plastic becomes.

With a light anodized frame, the unit weighs just seven pounds and comes with stainless-steel hardware. It installs in less than an hour using standard tools.

The new BridgeMaster safety glass insert provides a "window" of visibility when rainstorms make it hard to see through plastic bridge enclosures.

Clear-vinyl bridge enclosures leave a lot to be desired when it comes to visibility during a rainstorm, especially if the vinyl is starting to get cloudy. To solve this problem and ensure excellent visibility regardless of the weather, you can install a unique new safety glass insert called the BridgeMaster. Consisting of a panel of tempered safety glass surrounded by an anodized-aluminum frame, this window insert measures 28" wide by 18" high and can be equipped with an optional hand or electric-power windshield wiper. It can be installed in less than an hour's time.

On the Fly

You can keep rain out of your flying bridge and still get a clear view of what's ahead with BridgeMaster. Install this 1'6" by 2'4" safety glass in your bridge enclosure. BridgeMaster weighs seven pounds, so the manufacturer recommends at least 30-gauge plastic to support it. The frame is made of anodized aluminum and comes in black or silver. It mounts on a single plastic panel and you can install more than one on your flying bridge enclosure. According to the manufacturer, BridgeMaster installs in about an hour. For even better visibility, add an optional windshield wiper.

The Best of '94: I Can See Clearly

A bridge enclosure doesn't do much good if you can't see where you're going in foul weather. The BridgeMaster solves this problem with a safety-glass insert that becomes a permanent part of the enclosure. It measures 28" x 18" and will fit almost every enclosure made. The frame is anodized aluminum, weighs seven pounds, and comes with stainless-steel hardware. You can install it in about an hour.

Boating on the Hudson 6/93

by Jack Krasko

You are running your flybridge boat down the Hudson on the way home after a very pleasant weekend at your favorite getaway when the sky turns nasty and the heavy rain comes. You drop the front part of your bridge enclosure to keep out the wet stuff and in the twilight your visibility virtually disappears because of that plastic enclosure.

As it gets darker things go from bad to worse. Finally in desperation you have to lift the front of the enclosure just for survival. Now the wind and rain pours in all over you and your electronics. Of course you covered them with an old piece of plastic to protect them and make them difficult to see.

Not a pleasant scenario is it?

Well I found a new product that can change all this. The BridgeMaster. This fine product is a safety glass device that installs into the plastic bridge enclosure and allows you to see, really see, through it, just like looking through a window of your home. In addition, a windshield wiper can be added as an option to further increase your visibility. It really ends visibility loss when the enclosure is zipped up and ends the discomfort when the enclosure is opened in these bad conditions. It provides more comfort for the boater, family and guests by shielding all from the elements.

The BridgeMaster is 28 inches wide and 18 inches high and will fit into almost every bridge enclosure made. The frame is available in either silver or black and is made of corrosion resistant anodized aluminum. It comes complete with the highest quality stainless steel hardware and weighs just seven pounds, including the hardware.

Installation is a snap, taking less than one hour with no special tools required. You or your canvas man can easily handle the BridgeMaster.

This product is indeed unique! I wonder why no one thought of it before. Any boater who has ever piloted his vessel in a storm will recognize its value.
